JUDAS PRIEST's Vintage Vinyl In-Store Leaves Some Fans Disappointed

JUDAS PRIEST singer Rob Halford and guitarists Glenn Tipton and K.K. Downing took part in a signing session on Friday, May 9 at Vintage Vinyl in Fords, New Jersey.

One person that attended the in-store has posted the following account of the experience on the Metal Sludge "Gossip Board":

"You could only get into the signing by pre-ordering the new CD (regular or deluxe edition). This got you a wristband and allowed you to get ONE thing signed. After talking to the store manager a few weeks back, he said if you purchased multiple copies of the CD you could get multiple wristbands, which would allow you to get additional things signed. He said if the band (or their label) had a problem with this, he would refund my money for the unused wristbands.

"So, I bought four CDs and got four wristbands. My girlfriend got two, and I got two. This means between the two of us we could get four things signed (two for us and two for friends of mine in California.)

"As it turns out, the record company said only one wristband per person and one autograph. Period. End of story. They had security on both sides of the table checking your one item and making sure you didn't put another item on the table for the band to sign (some people tried and the item was removed by security).

"I saw the store manager after we got our one item signed and he said to go to the register to get a refund for the other two unused wristbands. That's when I realized there was a line of people all doing the same thing!!

"The band (and the record label) actually LOST CD sales because they wouldn't let people BUY multiple copies of the CD in order to get an extra autograph. Does this sound right to anyone??? The manager of the store was cool enough to let people get refunds, even though he was losing money, too.

"In a time when CD sales are tanking, it seems like a record label would do whatever they could to increase sales, not refund money."

Another person that attended the signing session has submitted the following report to BLABBERMOUTH.NET:

"No fans were allowed to have their picture taken with any of [the bandmembers], and they would only sign one item, not including guitars or even guitar pickguards!

"The whole thing was over in 45 minutes and they were rushed off leaving fans irate and polarized. It looked like only 50-60 fans showed up.

"The worst thing they could have done is book this at 6 p.m. in northern NJ. With the traffic, unless you live right around the corner, you were out of luck. We arrived at 6:45 p.m. and they were leaving merely 45 minutes into it!"
